The world is made up of different peoples and many times we may wonder why everyone is not like us.
This we would hope would make things better and the world would have less fuss.
Yet upon reflection, maybe the world is best the way things are,
because would you really want to be like them, whether without blemish or with a scar.
Have you ever noticed that the truth in most cases,
usually depends to a great extent on the bases.
The ideal also tends not to be the real
and the real unfortunately is not the ideal.
Did you noticed that the grass seems greener on the other side
But when you see the other side’s water bill you want to hide.
Have you ever wondered what if everyone did as you do?
Well, as a child I did, and end up writing this poem called “I YOU”.
I YOU.
Just suppose I were you.
You wouldn’t have a chance.
No, you wouldn’t have a chance,
Never get a chance to be you.
I would never one day lose
A battle between me and you.
I would have the power to choose,
Not only for me, but also for you.
Still, I am glad I am little me,
You are too big a person to be.
I rather be me all the time;
Because I dread to think,
Suppose you were I.
“I YOU” IS A NOTCLIF POEM FROM MY 1983 BOOK OF
POEMS CALLED “VIEW”.
